Ewald and Marie Specht in Estuary Saskatchewan, a rural community. She passed away peacefully on November 6, 2021 at a wonderful age of 96 years. Margaret was married to Jack Longmuir for 60 amazing years, where they spent their life living in the Empress area along the Red Deer River Valley. Jackie (Jim) Drake of Calgary, AB, grandson; Jeremy of Calgary, AB and Jordan of Burnaby B.C., Siblings; Edna Ferguson of Brooks, Erika Mahura of Medicine Hat, sister-in-law Lil Specht of Medicine Hat, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by parents Ewald and Marie Specht, husband Jack , daughter Beverly Anne, sister Helen Radford (Irving), Evelyn/Jim Wilson, brother Rudy, brother-in-laws Ted Mahura and Doug Ferguson, Jacks parents Gordon/Clara Longmuir, sister/brother in laws Mabel and Clarence Anderson of Peterborough Ont. Margie was a “caregiver” for many, learned the in and outs of cooking/cleaning under the watchful eye of Miss Flock/Sophie Mahura at the Empress Hospital. She was devoted to the United Church and was a honest hard working Christian Lady. With many special memories of her Burstall, Vandyne, Empress and later Oyen living, the stories she could tell after 96 years. The good, the bad and the ugly. She maintained her smile and carried on as God would have her be! She moved to her 5 star hotels as she called them; the Oyen Lodge in 2011, and Oyen Long Term Care in 2019. She enjoyed her family, grand children, and great grandchildren and her many friends, especially if they would stop for a game of cards. She’d play for hours if you’d stay and play. She loved her walks in the LTC garden with her special ladies. “All” were the apples in her eye! A very special Thanks to all her caregivers over the last few years. What a crew we have in our rural area! the Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacist, Housekeepers, the Cooks, Maintenance Crews, Hairdressers, Laundry, Secretaries, Ministers, Choir Director, the Choir, Rec Ladies, the “special” ladies that took such good care to get her to her meals etc. and her card players. The list is long but each one of you are very much appreciated and know you were part of her happiness with the excellent care she received in both facilities. 96 years old Wow. Amazing memories Amazing friendships.
