Obituary of William Charles Heather
It is with profound sadness, the family of William Charles Heather share the passing of William on September 1, 2021 in Medicine Hat, Alberta at the age of 92.
Bill was born on Sept 23, 1928 in Rutland, Saskatchewan to Nellie Irene (Bennett) and Frederick William Heather. Bill was predeceased by both his parents, Nellie 1932, Frederick 1939 and his younger brother Edgar Wallace who passed away in 1978. Bill is survived by his older brother Fredrick George Heather.
After the passing of his mother, the boys lived with their father until his passing. The boys were sent to Rocky Mountain House from approximately 1939-1941. Bill then went on to live with his grandparents, Will and Laura Bennett in Cereal Alberta. While living with his grandparents Bill was able to attend school in Cereal. While working on his grandparents farm, Bill found he could help more by hiring himself out to other farmers in the area or even for a while working the coal mines in Drumheller. Bill spent many years with Ellis and Margaret Wood along with Walter and Elaine Wood. He also spent alot of time working with the MacKenzie family on local community projects.
Bill's love of his community led to the heavy involvement in many community events. Some of the many things Bill was involved with included the Lanfine community hall, the 4-H clubs, Cereal BBQ's and the Masons. As well as many other community events.
Bill took alot of pride in working. He had a natural aptitude for small engines and all things mechanical. He never turned anyone down that needed help. He could make anything work from nothing. His methods were sometimes questionable but he was truly the original MacGyver.
We are extremely sad he is gone but honored and happy to have known him. Bill was loved by so many. His faultless integrity and love of his family has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and he will be greatly missed.
The family will be having a private service to honor him on Saturday September 11, 2021.
A public celebration of life to be held at a later date.
